Fit Fab Friday: Back to School Edition!

Hi friends!!  It’s been a while since my last Fit Fab Friday- it’s been a little crazy around here with all the trips I’ve been taking lately!

But I had a fabulous time and I’m back to a normal schedule (well, I will be next week when school starts!).

Last week was very interesting workout-wise.  I only had one scheduled workout.  The roomies and I went to the gym at the hotel and I hopped on the treadmill and did 3 miles.  Other than that we did an incredible amount of walking!  We walked miles and miles every day- especially in New York. (I actually lost 3 lbs on this trip- that’s how much we walked!)

But now that I’m back to a normal-ish schedule I need to get back to my normal workouts!  So I planned my workouts ahead of time this week.  Doing this is sometimes hit or miss for me since I’m a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kind of gal, but since I just got a new planner I’m kind of excited about planning stuff out ahead of time.

Something new I’m doing this week is adding strength training!  I know, I know…  I say I’m going to do this all the time, but I got a new book and I’m excited to try some of the workouts and I really really do need to start doing some strength training since I’m not working a job anymore that requires heavy lifting!

Anyone used this book?  I figure if I have a plan of attack for strength training when I go into the gym I will actually get something done instead of wandering around to random machines.

So here’s what this week looks like…

Today (Friday): 2 mile run

Saturday: Kickboxing (my favorite thing ever!)

Sunday: Walk at the park with the hubby and the pups

Monday: Kickboxing

Tuesday: Strength training at the gym (I don’t have my actual workout planned out yet- that’s my project for this afternoon!)

Wednesday: 3 mile run

Thursday: Strength training at the gym

What do we think about my plan of attack?  What kind of workouts are you doing this week(I’m always looking for ideas!)?

Fit Fab Friday: Stressed Edition

Soooooooo…..

I had a really bad week this week and I wasn’t able to work out much at all.  Thumbs down

My car broke down Friday evening in downtown Dallas.  We called the roadside assistance and waited (and waited and waited) for a tow truck.  We waited for 4 hours.  Outside with the car because they told us not to leave the car.  4 hours.  The temp has been hovering around 110 lately.  So not only did I not have a car for a few days, but I also think I was quite dehydrated- I’ve been feeling really bad all week.  Tired, sluggish, and overall horrible.

We had the car towed to a local place and finally got home around 11 that night.  So I was without a car all weekend, on Monday and on Tuesday.  I finally got it back Tuesday evening- Hallelujah!  P.S. sharing a car realllly sucks- I had to take the hubby to work, drive to Dallas for school, then go straight to Granbury after school and pick him up from work; leaving the house at 7 am and getting back around 8 pm.

Needless to say I was exhausted and feeling horrible all week.  Not to mentioned completely stressed out trying to balance all this with the 3 tests and 6 quizzes I had for school last week.  I am one gigantic wad of stress right now and I feel like I’m on the verge of flipping out!  Bah!

However…

The class is over next week, then the hubby and I are headed to Austin for a weekend getaway, then the next weekend is the Healthy Living Summit!!!  So I’ve got some super fun things planned if I can just get through this week!

I only got in one workout this week.  And it was today.  I did the elliptical for an hour.  And it felt GREAT to workout!!!

Next week’s plan is almost a repeat of last week’s plan!  I’ll probably take off next weekend since I’ll be in Austin, so that’s why I’m working out every day this week.

Saturday- Kickboxing at the gym
Sunday- 2 mile run
Monday-  Kickboxing at the gym
Tuesday- Elliptical + weights
Wednesday– 2 mile run
Thursday- Elliptical + weights

Have a fit fab Friday!

Fitness Friday: bum toe addition

So last week’s Fitness Friday didn’t really work out too well.  I think I was a bit too ambitious with my workouts.

On Friday I went to work and I could barely get my foot into my shoe.  It was a miserable evening at work.  I came home, iced my foot and got up and tried to go in on Saturday.  I couldn’t get my foot into the shoes I had worn the day before so I put on the only shoes I could get on- they were a pair of canvas slip-ons.  Bad bad bad idea.  I had no longer been there an hour and some lady runs over my foot (the one with the broken toe of course) with a shopping cart.  (seriously the people that shop there are incredibly rude- this is not the first time I’ve gotten hit with a shopping cart).  I didn’t finish the day out- I went home in tears and told them I wouldn’t be back the next day either.  The next day my whole foot was swollen.  It was horrible!

Suffice it to say I didn’t work out this week.  This broken toe hurts so much worse than the last time I broke it.  The bruising is pretty much gone (thanks Kenisio tape!!!) but it still hurts incredibly badly!

So this week here’s my plan:

  • Continue to see (on a day-by-day basis) if it feels comfortable enough to walk on with a shoe on.  If it does, go for a walk.  Even if it’s a short one!
  • If I cant wear a shoe I can’t go to the gym.  So this week I’m planning to do some weights at home (I have 5 and 10 lb weights).

That’s all I got!

I am so ready for this stupid toe to heal.  I WANNA RUN!!!

Anyone got anything fun planned for workouts this week??

Fitness Friday

So as per my last post, we all know I broke my poor little toe.  I have yet to be able to get it in a shoe (which will be interesting since I have to work tonight so I will need to figure out some way to cram my foot into a shoe).  And no shoes + barely being able to walk= no workouts this week.

I’m going crazy here!

I feel like I’m losing the mileage I had built up because I haven’t been able to run!  Sad smile

But the toe is starting to feel a little better (thanks to Kenisio taping + icing!) so I’m thinking I may be able to do something next week.

So pending the ability to put my foot into a shoe, here’s the plan Stan:

  • Walking at not too fast of a pace (if I can- if it’s painful I’ll stop obvi)
  • OR maybe the elliptical (at a slow pace)?  We’ll just have to see about that one- I think I’ll know right after I get on the machine if I’ll be able to do it or not.
  • Strength training!  I’m planning on hitting up the gym and getting my lifting on- at least my arms could get a workout even if I can’t do any cardio!

My exercise goal is to workout 3 days this week.  I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!

What are your fitness goals for this week??
